I like this photograph taken from the BBC News website, because it look as if the young refugee boy close to the camera is the same who is stood diagonally behind. This gives a strong composition to the photograph, it is as if the young boy is being brought out of his current situation in the photograph.

I love the dreamy composition of this lomo photograph. I think the stark yellow colour adds to the dreamy feel.

This was taken by one of my friends and I came across it on facebook. It was taken in the landscape of Rovaniemi. I like this photograph because it gave me a feeling of a new start and new form of live. The winter is beginning to give in to the rebirth of summer, as vegetation starts to come through, in some ways it can be seen as an image of hope. The way the light highlights the plant enforces this perception.

I simply don't enjoy the asthetics of this photograph. The process of creating an image of such unrealistic quality have never appealed to my taste.

Marja Pirila, Interior/Exterior

This photograph was created using camera obscura, the exterior of the room is brought inside by the use of a small aperture. The notion of camera obscura captured me, and this photograph in particular caught my attention when I was flicking through Pirila's book. The way the photograph is composed gives a ghostly feeling, which is enforced by the over exposure of the girl, taking away some of the details of her face. This photograph also plays a trick on the viewer as the girl looks like she is actually stood outside, where as she is in a room and the outside is being reflected in, giving it a rather poetic quality.
