Marja Pirila, Interior/Exterior

This photograph was created using camera obscura, the exterior of the room is brought inside by the use of a small aperture. The notion of camera obscura captured me, and this photograph in particular caught my attention when I was flicking through Pirila's book. The way the photograph is composed gives a ghostly feeling, which is enforced by the over exposure of the girl, taking away some of the details of her face. This photograph also plays a trick on the viewer as the girl looks like she is actually stood outside, where as she is in a room and the outside is being reflected in, giving it a rather poetic quality.
